Services Overview

In EB, technology architecture is not just about frameworks or models – it is about helping our client's find the right technology answers, make timely decisions and deliver outcomes at an optimum cost. We do this by helping our clients in the three areas where architects can add the most value:

We are not wedded to any particular technology, platform or vendor. In all our engagements, the only constant is our passion for the excellence of our people and the results they produce.

Enterprise Blueprints believes in sharing risk with our clients. Your success is ours too. And that, we think, makes sound business sense.

Technology Leadership

Technology leaders are individuals who not only understand technology to a greater depth, but are also able to translate that knowledge into thought leadership and build the consensus required to facilitate action.

Enterprise Blueprints provides such leadership.

We engage as part of the CTO or IT Director's team to help define strategy and technology roadmaps and to ensure that they are implemented appropriately in solution designs. We translate Enterprise Architecture into a pragmatic set of actions and move beyond documents and models.

EB architects also engage as Technology advisors to Programme Directors and Programme Managers, to help provide architecture and design assurance on IT change programmes. On such programmes, our architects play a critical advisory role to the vendor teams, helping them make design/development choices that protect the integrity of the solution and its ability to realise the business benefit and projects from undue risk.

IT Doesn't Matter
Nicholas G. Carr

As information technology's power and ubiquity have grown, its strategic importance has diminished. The way you approach IT investments and management will need to change dramatically.

IT Simplification

Most mature organizations have amassed complex applications, data, infrastructure and tools. Their technology portfolios have become so complex that they consumes more than 80% of all IT resources to simply keeping it going - leaving less than 20% of resources for value-creating initiatives. Enhancements and integration of new solutions have also become more and more difficult to implement.

Enterprise Blueprints understand that the simplification of such technology estates is not just a technology problem. Addressing the business and data implications requires knowledge of the business in equal measure.

EB's IT Simplification service and our tools help quickly identify and prioritize the areas in our client's technology estate that would deliver the maximum return on investment. We help define the target architectures that deliver a simplified estate, as well as the mechanisms required for data migration and rectification.

As simplification programmes do not deliver the entire benefit until the target state has been achieved, we stay the course with our clients and help oversee the efforts of your delivery partners and manage the transition to the simpler, more valuable landscape.

We also leave behind with our client's teams, the capabilities required to undertake the upkeep of the simplified estate on a regular basis.

A rational approach to optimizing IT
eds.com
Reducing the complexity of information technology (IT) and expediting the benefits of ITtransformation are a huge challenge for many companies today, and communicationsindustry organizations are no exception. EDS' proven application and infrastructurerationalization methodology helps clients optimize technology and achieve cost savings.

Solution Architecture

We deliver solution architectures that provide business solutions. Delivering excellent solution architecture requires a deep understanding of the entire context of the problem, not just the application technology.

Rich business domain expertise enables our architects to fully appreciate the business context that the technology will operate within and our technology expertise, which spans application software, data and infrastructure, helps ensure that the best practices and practical considerations of each technology area are incorporated into the solution design.

EB architects pay a very high degree of attention to the quality of their communication, ensuring that their expertise and experience is translated into a clearly articulated vision that is easily understood by business and development teams alike. They earn trust with both groups by using jargon-free language, while remaining completely at home in the detail of software, data infrastructure development.

Our role on solution architecture projects start with assisting our clients to define and quantify the outcomes and benefits. We then devise the architecture that align with the solution and govern its implementation. We continue to provide oversight until our clients realise the benefits from the solution.

Solution Architecture
Michael Rockwell, Microsoft Corporation
January 2008

Solution architecture starts with an understanding of the problem, and this is where so many projects fail. Too many people have the idea that solving a problem is all about coding. The coding is the easy part.
